Maldives Post Limited has announced that preparations are underway to launch postal services in Phase II of Hulhumalé.

The company is currently seeking to lease a ground-floor premises, with a minimum area of 1,700 square feet, to serve as the base for the new operations. The lease will be for a period of five years.

Interested parties have been invited to submit proposals as detailed in the gazetted information sheet. Submissions are scheduled for 2:45 p.m. on the 18th of this month at the Post Building.

According to the announcement, the expansion into Phase II is driven by a sharp increase in shipping volumes—particularly from the Chinese e-commerce platform Temu, which recently began servicing the Maldives. The surge in deliveries has led to logistical backlogs, highlighting the need for additional infrastructure to manage postal operations more efficiently.

To support this expansion, Maldives Post has also announced new employment opportunities.
