President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has extended congratulations to the Portuguese leadership on the occasion of Portugal Day, observed annually on June 10.

In separate messages sent to His Excellency Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, President of the Portuguese Republic, and His Excellency Luís Montenegro, Prime Minister of the Portuguese Republic, President Dr Muizzu conveyed warm greetings and best wishes on behalf of the Maldivian people.

In his message to President de Sousa, President Dr Muizzu wished him continued good health and happiness, and expressed hope for sustained progress and prosperity for the people of Portugal.

He extended similar sentiments to Prime Minister Montenegro, congratulating the government and citizens of Portugal on their National Day and wishing the Prime Minister good health and well-being.

This year’s Portugal Day also marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of formal diplomatic relations between the Maldives and Portugal. President Dr Muizzu highlighted this milestone in a message posted on his official X account, reaffirming his commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation.
