The funeral prayer for Sheikh Ibrahim Fareed Ahmed, who passed away in Malaysia at the age of 53, will be held today, June 11, 2025.

According to the Maldives Embassy in Malaysia, the funeral prayer will take place after the afternoon prayer at Raja Haji Fisabilillah Mosque. Sheikh Fareed will be laid to rest at the Tanah Perkuburan Islam Raudhatul Baqi cemetery.

He passed away on June 9 at Kuala Lumpur International Airport, shortly after arriving in the country to attend an Islamic workshop.

Sheikh Fareed’s family had initially wished to repatriate his body to the Maldives for burial. However, due to legal requirements in Malaysia mandating a post-mortem examination prior to repatriation, the family ultimately decided to hold the funeral in Malaysia.

Sheikh Fareed was widely respected in the Maldives for his religious scholarship and dedication to Islamic teachings. He was known for his commitment to promoting the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and for his efforts in educating the public on Islamic principles. His sermons and lectures drew large audiences and had a profound impact across the country.
