The Government is actively working to resolve any issues faced by inbound tourists following the temporary closure and subsequent reopening of several Middle Eastern airspaces.
The disruptions came after Iran launched an attack on US military bases in Qatar last night, prompting the temporary closure of airspaces in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Kuwait and Bahrain.
Qatar, which operates several daily flights to the Maldives, is a key transit hub bringing a significant number of tourists to the country.
In a post shared on X, Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation Mohamed Ameen said the Government is closely monitoring the situation and assessing its impact on air travellers from the West, including those travelling to the Maldives.
He added that while some Middle Eastern carriers at Malé International Airport faced delays, departures have since resumed, and authorities hope to restore normal travel patterns and minimise disruptions to tourism.
