Minister of Finance and Planning Moosa Zameer is in Beijing, China, for the 10th Annual Meeting of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), held from June 24 to 26 at the China National Convention Centre 2.
The event brings together more than 3,500 participants, including delegates from AIIB member countries, international experts, business leaders, civil society organisations, and media.
Key agenda areas for the meeting include green and sustainable financing, regional connectivity, private sector mobilisation, and digital transformation.
This year’s theme, “Connecting for Development, Collaborating for Prosperity,” reflects AIIB’s commitment to inclusive growth and global cooperation through infrastructure investment. Marking the bank’s 10th anniversary, the meeting also offers members an opportunity to assess progress and set future priorities.
On June 24, Minister Zameer participated in the Governors’ Special Session, where Madam Zou Jiayi was elected as the next President of AIIB. The Maldives extended congratulations and reaffirmed its support for the bank’s development agenda.
On the sidelines, Minister Zameer met with the president and senior officials of the China Export and Credit Insurance Corporation (SINOSURE) to discuss ongoing fiscal reforms and explore enhanced cooperation on insurance coverage for development projects.
