The Prosecutor General’s Office is reviewing a chargesheet submitted by the Maldives Police Service against three individuals in connection with a major terrorism case.

According to PG Office, the charges stem from a national security operation carried out jointly by the Maldives Police and the Maldives National Defence Force in early March. The coordinated effort involved multiple raids in Malé and Hulhumalé, during which several locations linked to the suspects were searched. Authorities seized a number of undisclosed items believed to be linked to the investigation.

Three suspects were arrested during the operation. At the time, police stated the operation was based on intelligence indicating a possible threat to national security. Due to the sensitive nature of the case, further details have not been made public.

Officials confirmed that a decision on whether to formally pursue charges will be made by July 7, 2025. The case remains under investigation as authorities assess the evidence collected during the operation.
