Vice President Uz Hussain Mohamed Latheef has departed for Spain to attend the Fourth International Conference on Financing for Development (FfD4), scheduled to take place from June 30 to July 3 in Seville.

During the visit, the Vice President is expected to deliver a statement at the opening segment of the plenary meeting. He will also take part in thematic multi-stakeholder roundtables, where he will highlight the Maldives’ ongoing financial reform efforts.

The Vice President is expected to urge the international community to support global debt sustainability and advocate for more inclusive representation in financial decision-making. He is also scheduled to speak at side events hosted by the Maldives, alongside senior government officials who will participate in high-level discussions throughout the conference.

FfD4 serves as a global platform for dialogue on financial reform, bringing together governments, international and regional organisations, financial and trade institutions, the private sector, civil society and the United Nations system. The previous conference was held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, in 2015.
