The Government of Singapore has officially welcomed the President of the Maldives, Dr Mohamed Muizzu, and First Lady Madam Sajidha Mohamed, as part of his official visit to the country.
President Dr Muizzu and the First Lady were received by Singapore’s President Tharman Shanmugaratnam, at a ceremony held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The welcoming ceremony featured the playing of the national anthems of both Singapore and the Maldives, performed by the Singapore Armed Forces.
Following the ceremonial music, President Tharman and President Dr Muizzu jointly inspected the Guard of Honour. The event highlighted the strong diplomatic ties between the two nations and was attended by high-level Singaporean dignitaries.
During the ceremony, the Maldivian delegation accompanying President Dr Muizzu was formally introduced to President Tharman. The two Heads of State posed for an official photograph to mark the occasion, and President Dr Muizzu signed the guest book, commemorating the visit.
This official visit comes at a meaningful moment, as both nations celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Maldives and Singapore.
