The Governments of the of Maldives and Singapore have formalised three significant Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs), marking a concerted effort to enhance bilateral cooperation in capacity building, environmental sustainability, and technical education.

The agreements were signed during a ceremony held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Singapore, in conjunction with the official state visit of the Maldivian President to the city-state.

The first MoU outlines a framework for collaboration in capacity building between the two Governments.

The second MoU was signed between the Ministry of Tourism and Environment of the Maldives and the Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment of Singapore. It focuses on promoting sustainable environmental practices and joint initiatives to address climate-related challenges.

Further reinforcing the bilateral relationship, a third MoU was signed to advance collaboration in the field of education, particularly in technical and vocational training. This agreement, between Singapore’s Institute of Technical Education and the Maldives’ Ministry of Higher Education, Labour and Skills Development, aims to strengthen academic cooperation, inform policy development, and support research initiatives.
