President Dr Mohamed Muizzu paid a courtesy call on President of Singapore Tharman Shanmugaratnam on Monday as part of his ongoing state visit to the city-state.

During the meeting, the leaders reflected on 50 years of diplomatic relations between the Maldives and Singapore, reaffirming their commitment to strengthening ties. President Shanmugaratnam welcomed the visit, while President Dr Muizzu expressed gratitude for the warm hospitality extended by the Singaporean Government.

The discussion focused on deepening cooperation in areas such as education and training, renewable energy, infrastructure, and economic diversification. Both leaders also noted the importance of expanding collaboration in the Maldives' fisheries sector.

To mark the golden jubilee, President Dr Muizzu presented a commemorative book to President Shanmugaratnam, chronicling five decades of Maldives–Singapore relations since the establishment of formal ties on February 20, 1975.
