The Maldives Police Service has urged the public to temporarily suspend all sea-related recreational activities, due to worsening weather conditions across the country.

The advisory follows a rise in maritime incidents linked to heavy rainfall and rough sea conditions, particularly affecting Malé City and surrounding regions since earlier this week. Authorities have stressed that safety remains the top priority as the southwest monsoon continues to bring turbulent weather.

In its advisory, the Police noted an increase in sea-related incidents and urged the public to suspend beach sports and water-based recreational activities as a precaution until weather conditions stabilise.

The Maldives has been experiencing widespread rainfall and high winds since the beginning of the week, with national meteorological services warning that poor conditions are expected to persist. Emergency services remain on alert, and the public is encouraged to stay informed through official updates.
