A woman was injured after being struck by a motorcycle while crossing a zebra crossing in Hulhumalé Phase 1, police have confirmed.

Authorities received information about the incident at approximately 2:16 p.m. The collision occurred when a motorcycle travelling from the north to the south fromBageecha Hingun struck the woman as she was crossing at a zebra crossing.

The injured party, a 59-year-old local woman, was taken to Hulhumalé Hospital. According to police, she did not sustain serious injuries.

It was further revealed that the motorcycle was being ridden by a Bangladeshi national who did not hold a valid licence for that category of vehicle. Police have since towed the motorcycle involved in the collision.

The case remains under investigation.
