Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) has signed its first Service Level Agreement (SLA) with the Ministry of Agriculture and Animal Welfare, marking the beginning of a comprehensive initiative to elevate service quality and operational efficiency at Velana International Airport (VIA).
The agreement, signed by MACL CEO and Managing Director Ibrahim Shareef Mohamed and Deputy Minister Ishaq Adam on behalf of the ministry on July 10, 2025, sets out clear performance benchmarks and service protocols focused on strengthening the procedures for the air transport of plants and animals.
This partnership is the first in a planned series of SLAs designed to streamline operations and align service providers with international aviation standards, particularly in preparation for the increased capacity of VIA’s new passenger terminal.
As the primary operator of the country’s main international gateway, MACL is implementing the SLA framework to ensure all airport stakeholders, including Government agencies and private service providers deliver consistent, high-quality services. The company noted that this structured approach is critical as VIA prepares to accommodate rising passenger traffic and enhanced connectivity.
