The Special Presidential Commission established to investigate the incident involving a Maldivian youth found collapsed on a rooftop in Malé on April 18, 2025, has been officially dissolved.
President Dr Mohamed Muizzu formalised the decision through a Presidential Decree on July 14.
The Commission’s final report was made public on June 17, 2025. Following its release, the President instructed the Ministry of Homeland Security and Technology and the Ministry of Health to take appropriate action based on the report’s recommendations.
The Commission was originally formed on April 27, 2025, at the President’s discretion. It was mandated to conduct a fair, independent, and credible investigation into the circumstances surrounding the April 18 incident.
Its responsibilities also included reviewing the conduct of relevant institutions, advising the President, and recommending necessary measures. With the completion of its mandate and publication of its findings, the Commission has now been officially dissolved.
