The Zakat House of the Maldives is seeking licensed service providers to offer Islamic health insurance coverage for individuals registered in the national register of the poor.

According to the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, the tender is open to businesses that are registered under the Business Registration Act and authorised to provide insurance services in the country.

Interested parties have been invited to register and submit their bids following a clarification of the tender details. The Ministry stated that all relevant information will be sent by mail to those who register for paper-based bidding.

Bidders are required to register before 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, 18 July.

In addition to providing general health coverage, the new insurance scheme will introduce medical treatment for individuals suffering from chronic illnesses, such as cancer, to support the health needs of the country’s most vulnerable.
