President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has extended his heartfelt condolences following the tragic death of 17-year-old Yoosuf Alsan Mohamed in a road accident that occurred in Malé last night.

Alsan, who was riding the motorcycle at the time of the incident, was the son of renowned local artists Mohamed Abdul Ghani and Mariyam Ashfa. The accident also left two others injured.

According to the Maldives Police Service, the crash occurred when the speeding motorcycle struck a pedestrian at a zebra crossing before colliding with a passing pickup truck.

In a message shared on social media, President Dr Muizzu expressed deep sorrow over the loss, offered prayers for Alsan’s soul to rest in peace, and conveyed condolences to the family. He also wished a swift and full recovery to those injured.

Vice President Uz Hussain Mohamed Latheef also shared a message on social media expressing grief over the incident. He offered prayers for Alsan, extended sympathies to his family, and wished a speedy recovery to the injured.
