The Ministry of Islamic Affairs has officially opened registration for the 37th National Quran Recitation Competition.

The annual event, first launched in 1981, invites participation from councils, schools, clubs, and associations across the Maldives. This year, entries will be accepted under separate categories to ensure broader community engagement.

According to the ministry, applications will be accepted from 13 July to 17 August via the oneGov platform.

The competition is scheduled to begin on 18 September and will include three main segments: a schools segment, a hafiz segment, and a category for clubs and associations. Participants will compete in various categories, including recitation, recitation by heart, and the hafiz category.

Organised annually by the government, the National Quran Recitation Competition aims to develop a deep appreciation for the Holy Quran and to encourage its recitation among all age groups.
