The body of a 15-year-old boy who went missing while swimming off the coast of Alifu Dhaalu Maamigili on Monday has been recovered, authorities have confirmed.

The boy has been identified as Looth Ahmed, a resident of Roalhi, Maamigili.

Following the recovery, he was taken to the Maamigili Health Centre, where he was officially declared deceased.

According to the Maldives Police Service, the incident was reported at approximately 7:00 p.m., after one of four children swimming near the island was found to be missing.

Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) divers located and retrieved the body from the waters off Maamigili two hours after the search began.

The search effort was carried out jointly by the MNDF, Maldives Police Service, and local community members.

Police have not released additional details, and the case is still under investigation.
