President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has extended his condolences following the passing of 15-year-old Looth Ahmed, who died on Monday.

In a message shared on social media, President Dr Muizzu expressed sorrow over the young boy’s death, describing the news as heartbreaking. He offered prayers for Looth’s soul to rest in peace and conveyed his deepest condolences to the grieving family.

Looth’s body was recovered by divers from the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) approximately two hours after he was reported missing while swimming near Alifu Dhaalu Maamigili. According to the Maldives Police Service, the incident was reported around 7:00 p.m. on Monday, after one of four children in the water was found to be missing. A search operation was immediately launched.
