The Maldives Meteorological Service (MET) has issued a weather advisory warning of adverse conditions across the country from July 17 to July 20, as the southwest monsoon is expected to intensify.

In a statement released on Wednesday, MET said the strengthening monsoon will bring strong winds, rough to very rough seas, and widespread rain and thundershowers across much of the country over the next four days.

According to the forecast, average wind speeds will remain high, with gusty conditions likely, particularly during showers. Sea conditions, especially in open waters, are expected to be rough and may become very rough during showers, with a possibility of wave surges during high tides.

The MET has advised seafarers and the general public to exercise caution and stay updated with the latest forecasts and alerts throughout the advisory period.
