President Dr Muizzu and UK Foreign Secretary explore new areas of cooperation

The Rt Hon David Lammy MP, Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs of the United Kingdom, paid a courtesy call on President Dr Mohamed Muizzu on Wednesday.

The meeting was held in the context of President Dr Muizzu’s series of high-level engagements aimed at strengthening diplomatic and developmental ties between the Maldives and the United Kingdom.

During the meeting, both parties explored ways to deepen cooperation across several key sectors, including fisheries, climate change adaptation, renewable energy development, and education, particularly scholarship opportunities for Maldivian students. They also discussed emerging areas of mutual interest to further enhance bilateral relations.

The call concluded with a reaffirmation of the Maldives and the UK’s shared commitment to strengthening their longstanding partnership.

The UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) leads the country’s global diplomatic, development, and consular efforts, working to promote peace, prosperity, and sustainable development.
