The Ministry of Islamic Affairs has launched a national initiative encouraging members of the public to contribute books to Islamic libraries across the country.

In its official announcement, the Ministry noted that donations are being accepted across a range of subjects. While Islamic finance remains a primary focus, the Ministry is also seeking children's books and educational materials to diversify the resources available to readers.

To facilitate the initiative, several libraries have been designated as donation centres. These include the Raa Ungoofaaru Islamic Centre, Thinadhoo City Islamic Centre, Haa Alif Dhidhdhoo Islamic Centre and the Fuvahmulah City Quran Centre.

The Ministry further outlined the types of books needed, specifying Islamic, educational, social, economic and children's literature in both Dhivehi and English. Books from other academic disciplines are also being welcomed.

Alongside the call for donations, the Ministry has also invited individuals interested in selling books to submit formal proposals. These proposals must include the names and prices of the books. Once the proposals are prepared, individuals are expected to visit the Ministry to finalise the submission process.

According to the Ministry, the deadline for registration of book donations is 14:00 on July 22. Registrations must be submitted via email to l[email protected]. Additionally, proposals for book sales will be accepted at 11:00 on July 31.
