Vice President meets Nadella Council

Vice President Uz Hussain Mohamed Latheef met with members of the Gaafu Dhaalu Nadella Council today to discuss issues concerning the island's development. The meeting took place at the President’s Office.
During the meeting, Council members briefed the Vice President on the island’s most pressing needs, particularly those affecting the youth. They highlighted several development challenges and requested the inclusion of a land reclamation project alongside the planned port project for Nadella. The Council also called for Government support in providing adequate sports facilities for young people and urged the expedited completion of an ongoing school building construction.
In addition, the Council stressed the importance of creating employment opportunities in the atoll, proposing the development of additional islands for tourism purposes in Huvadhoo Atoll to help generate sustainable livelihoods for local youth.
In response, the Vice President assured the Council that the Administration would work with relevant authorities to address the concerns raised. He conveyed that President Dr Mohamed Muizzu places a high priority on advancing the Nadella port project and expressed commitment to ensuring its progress. The Vice President also spoke about future employment prospects for the youth and emphasised the potential for development in the field of sports.
