The Ministry of Education has confirmed that preparations are underway to recruit teachers and secure resources for Shaheed Ali School, a new educational institution currently being developed in Hulhumale’ Phase II. The construction is expected to be completed by November, with the school scheduled to open at the start of the new academic year in January.

In a statement on the ongoing progress, State Minister for Education Hussain Saeed Mohamed stated that all necessary steps are being taken to ensure the school is fully prepared ahead of its opening. He added that appointments for both the principal and deputy principal will be made prior to the start of the academic year, enabling them to take part in pre-opening activities such as overseeing enrolment procedures and coordinating internal operations.

Following the handover of the completed building to the Ministry, internal preparations will begin without delay. The State Minister noted that the school will be fully air-conditioned and equipped with modern infrastructure, which will support effective planning for both student admissions and staffing.

The opening of Shaheed Ali School is expected to relieve pressure on Salaah'udhdheen School, which currently serves a large number of students in the area. The Ministry has stated that admissions to all schools will be managed according to the prescribed student limit per class to uphold educational quality. Additionally, students enrolled at Kaamil Didi Primary School will have the option to transfer to either Shaheed Ali School or Salaah'udhdheen School.

The construction of Shaheed Ali School was officially inaugurated by President Dr Mohamed Muizzu on December 23, 2023. The school is designed to accommodate up to 1,500 students. Structural works have been completed, and final finishing work is currently in progress.

In June, the Ministry opened applications for student admissions to new schools. Once completed, the Hulhumale’ Phase II facility will comprise 54 air-conditioned classrooms, a multipurpose hall, a turf ground, and a range of advanced educational amenities. The construction is being carried out on a contractor-financing basis by Rasheed Carpentry and Construction Pvt Ltd.
