The Maldives Correctional Service has confirmed the dismissal of suspended Assistant Commissioner of Prisons Mohamed Asif.

The decision was officially communicated by the Correctional Service’s media officer, who did not provide further details regarding the termination.

Asif had been under suspension for the past eight months following the emergence of a financial case involving the Prisons Club, which he headed. The case concerns the transfer of more than MVR 200,000 from the club’s account to multiple other accounts.

Following the discovery of the financial irregularities, Asif was removed from his duties and placed under suspension. His dismissal concludes the administrative action taken against him in connection with the matter.
