As part of ongoing preparations for the opening of the new terminal at Velana International Airport (VIA), Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) has announced a series of changes to vehicle queues and passenger drop-off points, effective from July 20, 2025.

Under the revised arrangement, vehicles transporting passengers to the domestic terminal will no longer be allowed to stop directly in front of it. Instead, these vehicles must now use the designated stopping zone used for international terminal arrivals.

Additionally, the vehicle queue currently located near the domestic terminal has been relocated to the southern side of Hulhulé, specifically in front of the former cargo terminal. MACL’s Estate Security Services (ESS) will oversee queue management in the new location to ensure smooth operations.

Public transport is also impacted by the change. MTCC buses travelling to VIA will now only stop at the bus bays situated behind MACL’s corporate office. The changes are being implemented to streamline traffic flow and enhance safety and efficiency ahead of the new terminal’s launch.
