The Government has announced that it will not enforce the previously stated provision requiring individuals to give up land plots received under the Binveriyaa scheme to be eligible for flats under the Gedhoruveriyaa housing scheme.

In a statement released by the Ministry of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure, the Government addressed public concerns over its decision not to allocate flats under the Gedhoruveriyaa scheme to individuals whose spouses have received land under the Binveriyaa scheme unless they agree to relinquish the land.

The Ministry stated that the decision was made in light of the ongoing dredging work in Hulhumalé Phase 3 and Giraavaru Falhu, as well as the extended timeline required for these developments.

Therefore, the Government has decided not to enforce the previous policy of offering Gedhoruveriyaa flats to those who agree to give up land received under the Binveriyaa scheme.

The Ministry further stated that regarding the list published by the Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure on 15 November 2023, no ineligibility letters have been issued to any individuals whose spouses have received land under the Binveriyaa scheme.

The Ministry has begun sharing information about the recipients of the 4,000 flats with Fahi Dhiriulhun Corporation (FDC) and announced that all necessary transactions to facilitate the signing of agreements with recipients will be carried out through FDC. FDC is set to begin the signing of agreements this week.
