Mauroof Jameel has stepped down as Managing Director of the Housing Development Corporation (HDC) after overseeing a series of key reforms within the company.

Mauroof, who previously served as Housing Minister and was the first Managing Director of HDC during former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom’s administration, resumed his post as MD following a request by President Dr Mohamed Muizzu to help stabilise the company amid ongoing corruption allegations.

He was appointed as the Managing Director on 22 December 2024.

In an interview with Public Service Media, Mauroof stated that he was appointed for a limited term, during which he successfully stabilised the company’s affairs and completed the work on the Hulhumalé Master Plan.

He highlighted the strong support he received from President Dr Muizzu during his tenure at HDC.

During his term at HDC, Mauroof implemented several key reforms and introduced notable changes to enhance the company's operations.
