During his official visit to the Maldives, Anura Kumara Disanayaka, president of Sri Lanka, took part in a tree-planting ceremony held today at Sultan Park in Malé.

He was joined by President Dr Mohamed Muizzu, with both leaders highlighting the close diplomatic relationship and cooperation between the Maldives and Sri Lanka.

As part of the ceremony, president Disanayaka planted a Tanjong tree, known locally as Moonimaa, under the Maldives’ Five Million Trees Planting Programme. The act served as a symbol of goodwill between the two nations and highlighted their shared commitment to environmental sustainability.
