In line with President Dr Mohamed Muizzu’s pledge, the monthly Hafiz allowance has been officially doubled, with the updated payments for the previous month now disbursed.

President Dr Muizzu announced on June 24 that Parliament had approved the amendment to increase the allowance, fulfilling a key commitment of his administration. Under the revised policy, individuals who have memorised the Holy Quran now receive MVR 4,000 per month, up from MVR 2,000.

The Government continues to intensify efforts to promote Quran memorisation across the country. This year, 24 individuals have completed memorizing the Holy Quran, marking the highest number of Huffaz produced in a single year to date.

The Administration has set an ambitious target of producing 100 Huffaz annually, aiming to reach a total of 1,000 Huffaz over the next five years. These initiatives reflect the Government’s commitment to preserving and strengthening Islamic values in the Maldives.
