MP Falah denies rift within PNC Parliamentary Group

PNC parliamentary group leader and Inguraidhoo MP Ibrahim Falah has firmly dismissed allegations by Velidhoo MP Mohamed Abbas that several members of the ruling People’s National Congress are preparing to leave the party.
MP Abbas, a member of the Maldives Development Alliance, alleged in a post on social meadia that 13 or 14 PNC lawmakers were considering relinquishing their seats and quitting the party over dissatisfaction with Government policies. He claimed the matter was raised during the PNC parliamentary group meeting held recently, which he said ended amid heightened tensions.
MP Falah denied the claims, describing them as politically motivated and aimed at creating division within the party. He suggested the remarks were part of a wider efforts to destabilise the parliamentary group and questioned the MP’s integrity, citing constitutional obligations for members of parliament.
Parliament Speaker Abdul Raheem Abdulla also rejected MP Abbas’s assertions, noting that he had attended the same meeting and that the PNC’s parliamentary group remains united despite attempts to spread misinformation.
