Minister of Economic Development, Transport and Trade Mohamed Saeed has said the Maldives has received assurances from international partners regarding continued access to food and fuel, despite ongoing global uncertainties.

Speaking at a People’s National Congress rally, minister Saeed said the situation in the Middle East has impacted global markets, but noted that the Maldives is taking measures to mitigate potential disruptions.

He said the Government has put in place policies to reduce the burden of rising prices on the public, adding that while global price fluctuations cannot be controlled, efforts are being made to ensure stable supply of essential goods.

Minister Saeed also highlighted plans to relocate the commercial port in Malé to Thilafushi, stating that the move would support broader economic transformation during the current Administration.

He reiterated that the Government is working to ensure that food and fuel supplies remain stable, emphasising that measures are in place to avoid shortages despite external challenges.
