The People’s National Congress (PNC) will hold its primary tomorrow to select a candidate for the North Hithadhoo by-election, as the ruling party moves forward with preparations ahead of the June poll.
Voting will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with ballot boxes established in both the North Hithadhoo constituency and Malé City, enabling registered party members to participate from their respective locations.
According to the party, voters registered in the Hithadhoo constituency for the 2026 local council elections will cast ballots in Hithadhoo, while members registered in Malé and other islands will vote at designated centres in the capital. A total of 727 voters are eligible to take part, with the process overseen by the party’s election committee.
Former Hithadhoo MP Mohamed Sinan and incumbent councillor Ahmed Saeed are contesting the primary, which will determine the party’s candidate for the by-election scheduled by the Elections Commission for June 6.
