A police officer has sustained injuries after a speeding car struck a police motorcycle during an attempted stop in Hulhumalé.

According to police, the incident occurred when officers tried to stop a speeding car driving between Hulhumalé Phase 1 and Phase 2. The driver failed to comply, continuing to drive at high speed, leading to a collision with a police motorcycle that tried to stop the car.

One of the two officers on the motorcycle sustained injuries and is currently receiving treatment at the hospital.

Police later managed to stop the car and arrested its two occupants, a man who was driving and a woman passenger.

An investigation into the incident is underway.
