B. Innafushi will be brought under the management of B. Fulhadhoo Council through a joint management plan between the Council and the Ministry of Tourism and Environment, President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has announced.
The President made the announcement during his visit to Fulhadhoo this evening, as part of his ongoing tour of inhabited islands in Baa Atoll. He emphasised that the arrangement would ensure tourism benefits are directed to the island community, recognising the sector’s vital role in the local economy.
President Dr Muizzu also reaffirmed his Administration’s full commitment to developing Fulhadhoo in accordance with residents’ aspirations, stressing that these efforts would be advanced in close cooperation with the community.
Addressing residents, the President identified the completion of the water and sewerage system as the island’s most urgent need. He confirmed that work on the project will begin this August, with completion expedited to improve living standards and support wider development.
The President also highlighted the need for adequate facilities for those relocating to Fulhadhoo for work, announcing that the construction of an accommodation block will be included in the 2026 budget.
Further commitments included strengthening healthcare through the establishment of laboratory services at the health centre within the year, supporting educational and sports initiatives as required, and building a new mosque, also slated for inclusion in the 2026 budget.
Concluding his remarks, President Dr Muizzu assured that all development projects in line with residents’ aspirations would be implemented without delay, ensuring tangible and timely benefits for the community.
