The Maldives welcomed 192,058 tourist arrivals in August 2025, a 9 per cent increase compared to the same month last year, according to the Ministry of Tourism and Environment.
Daily arrivals peaked at 7,177 on 16 August, while the lowest figure was recorded on 31 August at 4,258. The average daily arrival stood at 6,195, reflecting a recovery in numbers after the seasonal slowdown between May and July.
As of 1 September, total tourist arrivals for the year reached 1.49 million, representing a 9.4 per cent increase compared to the same period in 2024.
By facility type, resorts accounted for 1.1 million tourist stays, followed by guesthouses with 326,000, hotels with 38,928, safari vessels with 30,453, and other facilities with 1,038.
China remained the Maldives’ largest source market, contributing 15.8 per cent of arrivals, followed by Russia at 11.9 per cent and the United Kingdom at 9 percent. Italy and Germany exchanged places this year, with Italy ranking fourth at 7.2 per cent and Germany fifth at 6.9 per cent.
With peak season approaching, promotional efforts are being intensified. Visit Maldives, formerly known as the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC), announced its rebrand this week and unveiled a new corporate logo as part of its marketing drive.
