Heavy rains cause MVR 1.1 million in damage across Maldives

The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has reported that damage caused by heavy rains across the Maldives till November this year amounts to MVR 1.1 million.
The impact has been most significant on 10 islands, with Kurendhoo in Lhaviyani Atoll experiencing the highest number of damaged households, totalling 97.
In total, 110 homes across these islands suffered damage due to severe weather during the monsoon season.
The NDMA has conducted an assessment of the affected households and has submitted the findings to relevant authorities for necessary assistance under the Rules on Providing Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Damage Assistance.
Efforts are underway to provide relief and address the damages caused by the rains. The NDMA stated that it has engaged the appropriate authorities to ensure timely aid and recovery for the impacted areas.
