President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has announced that 2026 would mark the consolidation of governance and the establishment of a corruption-free system in the Maldives. The statement was delivered during his address commemorating this year’s Republic Day.

He outlined his Administration’s commitment to strengthening governance through enhanced transparency and accountability, noting that the Maldives 2.0 initiative, one of the key priorities of the 2026 State Budget, aims to digitise public services and reduce opportunities for corruption. The President indicated that the project would be substantially completed by the end of 2026, with full implementation expected by mid-2028.

President Dr Muizzu emphasised that digital transformation represents a major step towards efficient, corruption-free public service delivery, describing it as a collective success of the people. He highlighted the crucial role of youth participation in sustaining the new digital systems that will underpin the country’s future governance model.

Reaffirming his Government’s determination to eliminate corruption, the President stated that strengthening governance, increasing transparency, and ensuring accountability remain central to the Administration’s reform agenda.

He expressed gratitude to the Maldivian people for their continued trust and cooperation and commended the recipients of the National Awards for their dedication and contributions to the nation’s progress. He reiterated that his Government would continue to serve with sincerity and a steadfast commitment to the public interest.
