President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has appointed Ahmed Mahloof as the Ambassador of the Republic of Maldives to Japan.

The appointment ceremony was held at the President’s Office this morning, where Mahloof officially accepted the role, tasked with strengthening diplomatic ties and promoting cooperation between the Maldives and Japan.

Mahloof has been a familiar face in the Maldives’ politics for several years, holding several important positions. He served as the Minister of Youth, Sports, and Community Empowerment during the previous administration and has previously served as a Member of Parliament representing the Kaafu Atoll constituency.

 Known for his active engagement in youth and sports development, Mahloof has also represented the Maldives in various international forums, fostering bilateral and multilateral relations.
