In a joint operation by the Drug Enforcement and Counter Narcotics Intelligence units, two Sri Lankan nationals were arrested in Henveiru on December, 5.

The suspects, identified as Patti Vithanalage Vimosha (27)  and Nurukshan Kavinda Singapurage (21), were apprehended following a tip-off to authorities.

Acting on an intelligence tip-off, law enforcement secured a court order to search the suspects’ residence. They uncovered 116 bottles of 500ml each and six 5-litre bottles of what was suspected to be alcohol.

Following their arrest, the suspects were handed over to immigration authorities, a procedural step towards deportation as investigations continue. Officials have yet to determine the scope of their activities, including whether they were operating independently or as part of a larger network.

The investigation remains ongoing as authorities work to uncover further details surrounding the incident.
