President Dr Mohamed Muizzu addressed key concerns of the people of Thoddoo during his visit to AA Thoddoo, the first stop of the President’s tour of islands in North Ari Atoll and Kaafu Atoll.

In his address, President Dr Muizzu announced plans to install a dollar ATM on the island and introduce accessible banking services to support the financial needs of the community. This pledge addressed a longstanding concern of Thoddoo’s residents.

President Dr Muizzu also toured the Thoddoo Health Centre, engaging with staff to understand the challenges they face and discussing the facility's needs for further development. He assured the community that the Health Centre would be upgraded next year, with expanded services included in the 2025 budget.

Several key infrastructure projects prioritised in the 2025 state budget were also highlighted by the President. Road construction on Thoddoo will begin next year, alongside the development of water and sewerage systems. Additionally, the island’s school will transition to a single-session system, with new classrooms and facilities to support A-Level education. He further highlighted plans to improve waste management by utilising green tax revenues to implement regionally consolidated systems.

Focusing on the economic wellbeing of Thoddoo, President Dr Muizzu pledged to prioritise the development of Thoddoo’s agriculture and local tourism sectors to increase the prosperity of the citizens. He commended the hardworking and diligent community of the island, recognising the historical significance of these industries in the island.

Acknowledging the establishment of a local authority company by Thoddoo’s council, President Dr Muizzu reflected on the challenges he faced while implementing similar initiatives during his tenure as Mayor of Malé City. He emphasised that his Administration would support such efforts, whether through securing investments or other means, and would not obstruct initiatives aimed at improving the lives of the people.

President Dr Muizzu also reaffirmed his Administration’s commitment to serving all citizens without political bias, offering full cooperation to the council and the Women’s Development Committee of Thoddoo.
