Minister of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure Dr Abdulla Muththalib and Managing Director of the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC), DCP (Retd.) Ahmed Saudee, inspected ongoing works under Segment 2 of the Northside Boduthakurufaanu Magu Development Project.

Under the project, a 250-metre stretch of asphalt road is being developed between the local market area and North Harbour, with the road widened to six metres. In total, 1,088 metres of roadway will be upgraded, extending from the Henveiru Ferry Terminal to North Harbour.

The first phase of the project, covering 140 metres, has already been completed. The second phase is expected to be completed before the start of Ramadan, after which the upgraded section will be opened to the public.

The development also includes a new stormwater drainage system aimed at mitigating flooding during heavy rainfall. Once completed, the project is expected to improve pedestrian safety, ease traffic congestion in the commercial harbour area and support smoother movement of goods within Malé City.
