President Dr Mohamed Muizzu met with the Himandhoo Island Council and Women’s Development Committee (WDC) on Sunday to address the community’s pressing concerns.

The meeting was held at the Mathiveri Island Council Secretariat, bringing together the President, members of his Cabinet and local leaders.

The Council outlined significant challenges facing the island, including difficulties with the harbour entrance, limited land availability, and overcrowded conditions in the local school. They also raised concerns about areas vulnerable to coastal degradation and emphasised the importance of initiatives to enhance the island’s sports facilities.

In response, President Dr Muizzu assured the council of the Government’s commitment to resolving these issues promptly. He pledged swift action to address their concerns.

Cabinet ministers accompanying the President provided updates on ongoing Government initiatives and shared plans for Himandhoo’s development.

The Women’s Development Committee presented details of a pipeline business project they are leading and expressed gratitude to the State Electric Company Limited (STELCO) for its ongoing support of community-focused initiatives.
