India remains committed to working with Maldives for benefit of both nations: Prime Minister Modi

Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi has reassured his commitment to working together with the Maldives for the benefit of citizens of both countries.

The remarks were made in response to a message shared on X by President Dr Mohamed Muizzu on the occasion of India’s 77th Republic Day. In his post, President Dr Muizzu extended greetings and best wishes to Indian President Droupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Modi, and the government and people of India.

In response to the message, Prime Minister Modi thanked President Dr Muizzu for the greetings and expressed appreciation for the warm sentiments conveyed. He also wished the Maldivian people a happy and prosperous future.

The Maldives and India have maintained diplomatic relations since 1 November 1965. Ties between the two countries have been characterised by long-standing friendship, close cooperation and mutually beneficial bilateral engagement across a range of sectors.
