Physiotherapy services have been officially launched at Kaafu Maafushi Health Centre, bringing the long-awaited service to residents of the island and nearby communities.
The service was inaugurated at a special ceremony held on the island by Minister of State for Health Ahmed Qasim. Speaking at the event, the State Minister described the introduction of physiotherapy services as an important development for the health sector in Maafushi, noting that the service had been requested by residents for many years.
According to the Ministry of Health, the availability of physiotherapy services on the island will reduce the need for residents to travel to Malé City to receive such treatment. The ministry also noted that the service will enable quicker treatment for injuries related to sports and recreational activities.
The ministry further stated that the introduction of physiotherapy services in a tourism-based community such as Maafushi will contribute to the economic and social wellbeing of the island, describing the initiative as part of the Government’s efforts to strengthen healthcare services in the islands.
