President extends condolences on passing of former Deputy Police Commissioner

Late former Deputy Commissioner of Police Abdul Shakoor Abdulla

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has extended condolences following the passing of former Deputy Commissioner of Police (Retired) Abdul Shakoor Abdulla.

In a message on X, the President noted that Shakoor served both the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) and the Maldives Police Service for over 43 years, during which he held several senior leadership roles.

The President described Shakoor as a dedicated and experienced public servant who played a role in defending the nation during the 3 November 1988 attack, demonstrating courage and determination alongside fellow servicemen. He also highlighted Shakoor’s contributions to improving prison administration and conditions in the Maldives, as well as his involvement in efforts to combat narcotics.

President Dr Muizzu stated that Shakoor remained committed to serving the country throughout his life.

The President extended condolences to Shakoor’s family, the Maldives National Defence Force, and the Maldives Police Service, and prayed that Almighty Allah grants him mercy and admits him into eternal paradise.

Abdul Shakoor Abdulla passed away at the age of 75 on Tuesday morning.
