The Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) and ADK Hospital have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to promote the Maldives as a global medical tourism destination.

The agreement is a step towards diversifying the nation's tourism offerings by integrating healthcare services into its portfolio.

The MOU was signed by MMPRC Managing Director Ibrahim Shiuree and ADK Hospital Managing Director Ahmed Afaal at a ceremony held on December 12, 2024.

Speaking to the media, MD Afaal highlighted plans to establish facilities that will attract international patients seeking medical services in the Maldives. Additionally, the partnership aims to increase the influx of foreign nationals for activities such as health-related conferences and educational seminars.

The collaboration between MMPRC and ADK Hospital is set to position the Maldives as a hub for medical tourism by merging its reputation as a luxury travel destination with high-quality healthcare services.

The agreement includes plans to diversify the nation’s health and tourism sectors, with implementation work already underway. Efforts to promote these initiatives are progressing, with a series of activities planned to showcase the Maldives’ potential in this growing industry.
