First Lady stresses importance of protecting and nurturing children

First Lady Sajidha Mohamed has stated that the hopes and aspirations held for the future will continue to be realised as long as children are protected, cared for and raised in a positive environment.

She made the remarks in a message shared on social media to celebrate Children’s Day, observed annually in the Maldives on May 10. The First Lady also extended greetings and good wishes to children and families across the country on the occasion.

In her message, the First Lady noted that there is no reason to lose hope in the future of a nation where children are being raised as responsible and well-mannered individuals. She emphasised the importance of nurturing children with compassion, care and protection, highlighting the role such values play in shaping the future of society.

The First Lady further stressed that the wellbeing and upbringing of children remain closely connected to the long-term progress and development of the country. She underscored the need for continued support and encouragement to ensure children are able to grow in a safe and supportive environment.
