Minister of Health, Abdulla Nazim Ibrahim has announced that the Maldives’ master plan for tobacco control will be finalised by early next year. Speaking at the 4th National Roundtable meeting, organised with UNICEF and HPA, the Minister emphasised the Government’s efforts to create a tobacco-free Maldives through a comprehensive national plan, public awareness, and cessation clinics. The event also highlighted strategies to protect youth from tobacco abuse, alongside measures like higher taxes on cigarettes and a ban on vape products.
