The first phase of the Malé North Boduthakurufaanu Magu Road Project remains on track for completion by Independence Day after sub-base works and the Aggregate Base Course (ABC) were completed.
MTCC said asphalt paving on the remaining section of the road is scheduled for completion by Wednesday, while road marking for Segments Four and Five has already been completed. Construction of the parking zone is also progressing, alongside sidewalk paving and cable trench works on Segments Two and Three.
The company expects to complete the project by July 26, coinciding with the Maldives' Independence Day. The redevelopment will widen Boduthakurufaanu Magu to improve traffic flow while creating additional parking for offices, banks and businesses along the corridor.
Construction of the 830-metre project began in August 2025 and includes 737 metres of sheet piling. Earlier sections of the development, including the areas around the Izzuddin jetty and the local market, have already been opened to the public, easing traffic congestion in the area.
